My wife and I visited central Italy at the end of January and stayed at the Casolare Bargi for 7 nights. We were a little worried about how we would cope with the Italian winter particularly as the farmhouse was not centrally heated. However, the fires (open, along with other fuel-powered heaters) provided plenty of warmth during our stay....we were especially thankful to find that Peter had stoked up a roaring openfire in advance of our arrival. Peter and Christine had also helped us prepare a welcome pack to see us through the first day and a lasagne (a truly excellent lasagne at that!!) cooked by Christine that lasted for a few days.  The house is wonderfully situated on the border of Tuscany and Umbria, and was ideally positioned for us explore the countryside and nearby cities in our rental car. The nearby town of Trestina was just a 15 minute drive for picking up supplies at the local supermarket.  The house is fairly large but we felt perfectly at home with just the two of us....our favourite memories of the trip are the evenings spent building the openfire and relaxing with some wine and cooking. Peter and Christine were always nearby if we needed any help or local information but this didn't detract from the privacy or seclusion of the stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casolare Bargi and look forward to returning.
